New Art Therapy and arts engagement pilot
We are very excited about a new 6 month programme exploring the needs and delivery approach for Art Therapy and arts engagement activity for people with Dementia and their carers.
We have been granted funding by Awards for All (and are awaiting additional funding) for a feasibility and pilot programme to add to our 6+ years of delivery in this field.
This comes as part of SOLA's recent expansion as a specialist delivery service for both arts and Art Therapy.
We are looking forward to once again working with Granby Toxteth Development Trust for the first programme of activity with our long-term friends, Liverpool African Elder's Luncheon Club.
We are going to be busy running therapy interventions, arts activities and carrying out an online and face-to-face consultation and survey with local residents and service providers.
We will be delivering a dynamic range of engagement including individual and group Art Therapy sessions, community arts workshops and an event to highlight the benefits of Art Therapy and visual arts engagement for people with Dementia and their carers.
As part fo the project we will be working with people from across Liverpool and will be working with volunteers from the refugee and BME communities to skill up and enable the project the happen. So far volunteers come from Jamaica, Gambia, Venezuela and of course Liverpool. We are lucky to have such a great diversity of support, interest and backgrounds.
We are hoping to achieve funding through this pilot for a 2-3 year longer-term project.
More updates to follow!
